Oxford Weekend

*ahem*...so many peepur ask me, how come my "authoritarianism" score 100 marks. u peepur, never read the 'explanatory notes', where it says that authoritarianism means "Your adherence to the social order and how much you favor obedience"...NOT that i am hitler/stalin (as someone put it). so next time ah, prease read the 'explanatory notes'...esp the lawyers! have you all learnt nothing from law school...tsk tsk tsk.

since that post, some folks have also tried the test themselves! i shouldn't put their results up but the general consensus seems to be that the tests are pretty accurate. haha. try it when you have the time and nothing better to do - it takes about 20 good minutes of your life away. :)

i went to oxford this weekend to visit CH's sister. when i left on Sat morning the weather was great and we actually had sun! when we passed hyde park there were lots of joggers and picnickers out enjoying the sun...it looked so nice i felt like jogging too, for about 17 seconds before i snapped out of it...

(this picture doesn't show any joggers or picnickers, because by the time i whipped out my camera we had passed all the 'fun' stuff. so all you get is pictures of trees and sun. sorry.)

then decided to take boliao picture of myself on the bus! see the SUN!!! i had to wear SUNglasses!!! *fwah*

in oxford we went around some of the more famous sites, like Christchurch College...where we went to the famous dining hall where Harry Potter was filmed. not that i am a huge fan of HP lah but since i'm there...anyway it was all very quaint and nice. a bit hantu as with all old quaint things, but nice. :)

(i don't know how to get that last picture the right way up. when i view it on my iPhoto it is the right way up, and when i click on it to be uploaded it is also the right way up, but when it appears on the post it is sideways. WHY?!?! why like that?!?!)

anyway, it was really nice to get out of london this weekend. the moment the bus got out of london and hit the countryside i felt like i was on holiday already, especially with the weather being as great as it was on Sat. essentially what hits you is the immense sense of space which london does not afford. it's funny but even singapore and its hyper population density doesn't make me feel as 'closed in' as london does. maybe it has to do with living in a hostel room - i need more SPACE! i completely understand Hitler now and the need for 'lebensraum'....isn't it amazing what insight holidays give u. :P

the ride to oxford is also not too bad considering i am not a very good traveller - it is about 100 mins away and smooth all the way. when the weather gets warmer (and it is now, gradually), think we shall try to do more of this getting into the country for the weekend thing! even if it's just to sit around in some cafe and do nothing, it's a good feeling! :)

Actually even Central London has a lot more space than Singapore. There are many parks that you can hang out in when the weather gets warmer. I used to plonk myself in a park to study rather than being cooped up in the room/library. And the angmoh grass does not make you itch like our cow grass. Something you can look forward to!
