Term Plan

i don't really like my current room. it is depressing and makes me feel like crying all the time. it doesn't help that it always smells like cigarette smoke and the kitchen looks like a relic out of the 1970s (walls cracked & peeling, cupboards falling off hinges, fridge not working, sink not working). but at the same time i don't know if i can find another room to swap to, and i think it takes too much out of me to keep looking for a new place or moving house. so i've resigned myself to the fact that i may be staying here for some time after all.

so i've started to think about when is the earliest i can go home and get out of this dump. i've checked all my timetables and it appears that there is no teaching at all in the 3rd term - it is kept free for us to do our essays and assignments (to be handed in 1 July). 2nd term ends by 23 March, so give or take a little, i am thinking of going home end of March, which is about 10 weeks from now. i think i could hang in there for 10 weeks...? any more than that i might hang myself in this shitty room.

that means i will have to work hard for the next 10 weeks to get some drafts done and discuss them with my tutors and iron out any kinks, at the same time trying to keep up with ast least the essential weekly readings so that i don't die when it comes to exam time.

people who have studied here before - any thoughts on whether it is feasible to go home end of 2nd term and work from home? I am quite willing to go home and work on my essays and fly up to hand them in if necessary.

Hang in there...could be the winter weather contributing to your misery. I was darn depressed during winter and only started feeling better as the days started lengthening...
